KUALA LUMPUR (May 15): SAMA Square, a commercial development by SkyWorld Development Bhd (KL:SKYWLD), has received up to 10,000 visitors since its pre-opening on May 11. SAMA Square is located within the 42-acre SkySanctuary township in Setapak, Kuala Lumpur.
“The inception of SAMA Square was guided by two key concepts. Firstly, we aimed to redefine commercial spaces in Setapak, creating an everyday lifestyle hub that enhances convenience for residents of SkySanctuary and nearby areas. This transformation introduces a vibrant gathering place that enriches the community’s lifestyle and underscores our commitment for innovative design as well as sustainable living, fuelled by our company’s purpose to ‘Make Living Better’,” said SkyWorld Development CEO Lee Chee Seng in a press statement on Wednesday.
In addition, Lee noted that the introduction of SAMA Square is to diversify the company’s income stream: “Secondly, SAMA Square serves as a pilot project [that] marks our venture into the retail business. Occupying a site slated for future development, we transformed the area into an everyday lifestyle hub to tap into a new revenue stream, generating passive income while we strategise the site’s long-term use.”
SAMA Square occupies 4.15 acres and has a net lettable area of approximately 58,000 sq ft. It has 40 retail lots and 90% of the lots have been leased out.
The tenants mix in SAMA Square includes Inside Scoop, Zus Coffee, Subway, Guardian, Shabuyaki by Nippon Sushi, Hainan Village Kopitiam, Butter Kaya Kopitiam, Vivace Dance Academy, AllCare Dental Centre, BS Optometry, MemiZooZoo Grocer, emart24, Klinik Alam Medic and Nasi Kandar Al Yahya.
