KUALA LUMPUR: Radium Development Bhd (Radium) has partnered with Tokyu E-Life Design Inc (TELD), a Japanese provider of senior living and assisted care services, to address the evolving needs of Malaysia’s ageing population.

Radium will leverage TELD’s extensive experience in senior living to gain insights into best practices in areas such as care delivery, facility management and regulatory frameworks. Over the next nine months, Radium’s team will undergo training in Japan, studying internationally recognised senior living models to adapt these insights to Malaysian contexts.

“Malaysia’s demographic profile is changing, bringing with it new expectations for how communities are designed and how people live as they grow older. As a developer, we believe it is important to understand these shifts and proactively explore solutions that can contribute to healthier, more inclusive and future-ready communities,” said Radium group managing director Datuk Gary Gan Kah Siong.

“Japan has long been recognised as a global leader in senior living and elder care innovation. By collaborating with Tokyu E-Life Design, we have the opportunity to learn from decades of operational experience and best practices as we build our understanding of this emerging sector and assess its potential within the Malaysian landscape,” he added.

Present with Gan at the signing ceremony were Radium executive director Chai Woon Hou, Tokyu E-Life Design president and representative director Eisuke Ayuzawa and corporate planning general manager Shodo Mori.

The necessity for innovative housing and care solutions has increased since Malaysia became an ageing society in 2021. Through this partnership, Radium aims to integrate age-friendly living concepts into its developments, reinforcing its dedication to sustainable community growth and innovative solutions for Malaysia’s ageing society.
